Fifteen years inside American public schools, before she ever recommended a curriculum to anyone.
NY & CT districts
Calee graduated #1 in her undergraduate class at SUNY Fredonia and was honored with the John Courts Award for it. Most people don’t lead with their college transcript. She does, because it’s the first data point in a pattern that hasn’t broken since: get it right.
At 22, she was accepted into Teach For America, the year the program took only 11 percent of its 48,000 applicants. She was placed in Mississippi, teaching American literature and an ACT prep class to students who, for the most part, had never left the state. Her students grew an average of 3 points on the ACT in four months. She also ran fundraising for a $20,000 trip that took ten of her students to New York City, several of whom had never left Mississippi at all.
She spent a year as a composition teacher at Achievement First in Brooklyn, where her tenth graders posted the strongest writing growth of any cohort in the network that year. She left after one year over a disagreement with school leadership on discipline policy, a decision that told her something about the kind of leader she wanted to become.
Led PD for 40+ NYC APs
In 2017, at 26, Calee became the youngest Assistant Principal named that year in the entire New York City public school system. Over the next seven years at The Facing History School, she managed budgets between 4.5 and 7.9 million dollars for a community of roughly 450 students and 50-plus staff, and led the school through a measurable turnaround.
From 2020 to 2023, she also led professional development for her district’s assistant principals, more than 40 school leaders across NYC, coaching them through the same instructional and leadership decisions she was making in her own building.
Calee is a National Achievement Specialist at McGraw Hill, working with preK-12 schools and districts across New York and Connecticut on curriculum selection, implementation, and professional learning. She is not leaving that role. She is done being read as “a rep.” She wants district leaders to see her as a former practitioner and school leader first, because that is what she actually is.
Her own words, and the clearest single value in how she works.
She will defend a maligned district using real poverty and demographic data rather than accept a reputation everyone assumes is fair.
Every credential and every statistic on this page exists to serve that, never the reverse.
She’ll name weak implementation plainly. She’s also sarcastic, funny, and the youngest of six kids. The brand needs both.
